The affordable and flavorsome meal: Ramen
Simon here with a post about ramen, one of my all time favorite foods. Ramen is an extremely popular dish due to its affordable and flexible nature. By flexible I mean that it can be made in many different ways that it is up to the chef's imagination. For example, you can choose the noodle type usually soft, medium or hard. There are many toppings and sides to choose from such as hard boiled eggs, extra tender pork, mushrooms and more. But one of the most important things for ramen is the broth. The broth can come as either thick or light so it is up to your personal preference. The spot I went to eat ramen was at Ippudo (Level 2 Westfield @ George St.)
As of 16th Oct till 22nd Oct, Ippudo are holding a $10 ramen special to celebrate their 32nd anniversary, so what better time to get ramen than now? I ordered the Shiromaru Motoaji Ramen with thin noodles and it came with thick broth, slices of tender pork, mushrooms and green onion. This is a classic plating of ramen and doesn't fail to satisfy the appetite. If you are looking for something warm and satisfying that goes down easily then look no further. The broth was the right amount of thickness and had a deep flavor to it which helps mix with all the other ingredients and the pork was so tender it basically melted in your mouth. For $10 you get a lot (original price $15) especially if you drink the broth like a soup afterwards. For any ramen lovers, I highly recommend this place or even if you don't eat ramen often this is a place to try.
