A dessert place with great lunch options: What the Fudge
Hi guys, Simon writing again for Global Foodies. During the Cabramatta Moon Festival my friends and I were searching for a place to eat, although there were lots of great food carts and street options available, we wanted to eat inside as to avoid the heat that day. So we walked until we found a place with space available which is how we happened upon What the Fudge. Walking in, it was a smallish place with an interior mainly decorated with wooden features and tables, nothing was really striking about the place, but we are here to taste food not judge interiors as architects.
As we already spent much of our time eating from stands at the festival we decided to get one lunch item each, for myself I got the schnitzel with cheesy fries. The wait time for it was average, we waited maybe 8-10 minutes. Whenever I get the chance to eat schnitzel I take it, so I was keen to see how this would turn out, most are cooked differently at different places and I wanted to see how a dessert place would handle it.
The schnitzel itself was average on size and cooked to a crispy golden-brown color, served on a wooden platter with a side of salad and a fair amount of cheesy fries plus some garlic aioli sauce (my favorite). Now its time to eat. First the cheesy fries were as good as you can expect, crispy thick cut chips smothered in melted cheese. The schnitzel was outstanding as well, probably the schnitzel with the crunchiest skin while still having tender meat and mix this all with some garlic sauce and you have yourself a great lunch. Overall I would have to say I was extremely surprised and satisfied by the schnitzel; they gave you a decent helping with amazing quality and all at an affordable price point of $13.
