When Broke and Hungry-AF: Appetizers

Hey there lovely foodies,
Have you ever been in a situation where you crave good food but are too broke to indulge yourself in those luxuries (because you used all your money to do the same thing last week)? Who are we kidding? Of course, you have. Everyone has had that experience one time or other.

And if you are experiencing similar situations right now, then you have hit the right button. Today we bring to you the food hacks for those broke and hungry days.

We had stated in our previous posts that we will be bombarding our website and amaze balling you guys with a few blog every day. This is the part two of our "3x streak".
Welcome to the part one of the mini-series of

"When Broke and Hungry-AF"

In the first part, we shall discuss the appetizer!

ANTIPASTO PLATTER

This is a traditional Italian first-course meal. But don't let its fancy name and origin scare you. The broke version of this meal will just take a couple of items from your grocery, but nevertheless, you can still yell out "maginfico" in the end of this meal.
Here is the list of items you shall need
Celery - $1-$2
Bread - $1-$3
Salami - $3
Nduja/ Sundried Tomatoes - $2
Cheese - $1- $10 (depends on your taste)
Garlic - $0.72
Butter - $1
Basil - $1
Total estimated cost : $10-$15 (even less when your mum has stocked all of these in the kitchen)

Now let us begin by preparing the Garlic bread
Preheat the oven to about 180 degrees. Mix garlic, butter and basil in a bowl. Spread the mixture on both sides. Cover the bread with a foil. And bake for 20 minutes.
If using an oven is inconvenient you can toast the bread in a pan or a toaster.

After your whole kitchen smells like a Garlic Garden and the bread is done, its time to Platter up!

Clean the Celery and chop them into the sizes you like and arrange them on the board.

For the meat, we used Salami instead of Prosciutto (because let's be real, you're broke AF). Now you can put the Salami straightaway, or just smoke it till crispy as we have done here.

Scoop out two to three spoonful of Nduja or Sundried tomatoes to add the tanginess to your platter

And finish with the cheese according to your taste. Blue cheese would be the best.

And there you have it! Reasonable antipasto platter to feel a little less "broke" and little more "happy".
Stay tuned for the second and third part where we will be sharing with you our hacks for a home made second-course meal and yummy desserts.
